Field Notes from the Wild
Field Notes is the email companion to Authority in the Wild. Each note takes one idea from a recent conversation that is worth acting on, shows you where it came from in the guest's own words, and gives you one small thing to try, with a link to the full episode if you want to hear the rest.

- How often
- One email about a week after each new episode is published.
- What happens when you sign up

Before you hand a decision to AI
When I asked Marinela how she decides what to hand over to AI, she started with how often the decision repeats. A decision that comes up again and again is worth testing with AI, while a rare one depends on things that change, so she leans toward keeping a human on it and adds a second check: "can I explain every decision the system makes even six months later".
That check came from a test system she was building for loan approvals, where an AI agent rejected an applicant and she could not explain why. It left her uneasy rather than excited. In her words, "power without explainability, without traceability is a risk".
One thing to try this week: write down 2 decisions you would like to hand to AI, mark each one as frequent or rare, and start only with the frequent one.
